Rebecca McNamara (RM) Psychology is a solo-practitioner telehealth-only psychology practice.


RM Psychology aims to provide compassionate, person-centred psychological care for adults.

RM Psychology values being an inclusive practice, welcoming clients of all gender identities, sexual orientations, racial backgrounds, abilities, and body types.

ABOUT REBECCA

Dr Rebecca McNamara (she/her) is a clinical psychologist and the director of RM Psychology.

Rebecca provides compassionate, client-centred therapy.

She is dedicated to supporting people to move through emotional distress and helping them to gain greater self awareness, and move towards a more meaningful and fulfilling life.

Rebecca is a credentialed Eating Disorder clinician, and her professional interests include the treatment of eating disorders in adults, disordered eating, body and shape concerns, Perinatal and Infant Mental Health, depression, anxiety, life and relationship stressors and other mental health presentations.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

Rebecca provides therapy to adults and older adolescents for eating disorder recovery.  She also works with adults who are experiencing sub clinical disordered eating, and a range of concerns around weight, shape, body image and food.  Rebecca works with clients across the weight spectrum*.  Rebecca has a particular interest in working with pre- and post-natal clients who have food and body-image related concerns. 

Rebecca also works with families with Perinatal and Infant Mental Health needs, broadly defining this life stage as beginning when a person or couple start to consider having a child, right through to five years postpartum.

Rebecca also provides therapy to adults experiencing other mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder and others.

Rebecca offers individual therapy with face-to-face and also Telehealth options.

Rebecca's clinic room is located in Eltham, in the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne.

Appointments available on Monday, Tuesday and Saturday.  Daytime and evening sessions available.

IS RM PSYCHOLOGY A GOOD MATCH FOR ME?

The following criteria will help you to understand whether RM Psychology is likely to be a good match for your current needs.

  • You are aged 16+

  • You are seeking therapy for disordered eating, an eating disorder, body image concerns, or these issues within the perinatal life period;

  • You are seeking support for mental health concerns in the Perinatal period of life (pre-conception-5 years post partum)

  • You are seeking therapy for another mental health concern which matches Rebecca's experience (including depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder).

  • If you are seeking treatment for an eating disorder, you are medically stable, have a BMI>16, and have regular reviews with a medical doctor.

  • You are ready to engage in strength-based therapy in which you are an active participant and want to work in partnership towards greater peace and fulfilment in your life. 

  • RM Psychology does not offer crisis intervention.  If you are in need of urgent psychological care, please contact 000 or lifeline (13 11 14) or attend your closest hospital Emergency Department.

  • RM Psychology does not take on clients who require higher levels of care due to medical complications or high acuity of psychological distress.  If this is your current situation, please consult your GP to discuss alternative treatment options.

FEES

RM Psychology is a fee for service practice, and does not bulk bill.  You may be eligible for a rebate, or cover by your private health insurance or other funding scheme.

SESSION FEES

Individual session fees are $240 for a 50 minute session

MEDICARE REBATES

You may be eligible for medicare rebates for your sessions if you have a current referral from your GP and have a Mental Health Care Plan (up to 10 sessions per calendar year) or an Eating Disorder Management Plan (up to 40 sessions per calendar year).  Reviews are required with your doctor at specific session intervals in order to access blocks of sessions that contribute to the total plan.

The current Medicare rebate amount is $137.05 per 50 minute Telehealth session with a Clinical Psychologist (Item number 91167; Or, for eating disorder psychological treatment, 93079).

The out of pocket cost per session at RM Psychology, for clients who are eligible to claim a medicare rebate, is $102.95.
